An anatomical study of the bicipital aponeurosis in embalmed and fresh frozen cadavers

Objectives: The bicipital aponeurosis is a fascial expansion which arises from the distal tendon of biceps brachii muscle. It an important structure for protecting median nerve and brachial artery. aim this study was to analyze morphometry shape its implications protection Methods: Upper extremities two fresh frozen seven embalmed cadavers (five right, four left sides) were dissected. ages varied between 60–86 years. central length, superior width, inferior width evaluated. All measurements performed by using digital caliper. Results: length measured 3.6±1.2 cm. superior, found 1.5±0.7 cm, 1.5±0.6 cm 1.8±0.8 respectively. Through examination upper extremities; different shapes observed. In type I; fusiform in observed extremities. five extremities, it as quadrangular classified II.
